Harvest your basil for this classic pesto

Homemade basil pesto

This weekend, harvest any basil you're growing before it dies back and make this classic basic pesto. Enjoy tossed through pasta.

Try this easy pesto

Ingredients (5)

  • 45g pine nuts
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 2 small garlic cloves
  • 60g shredded parmesan
  • 5 tbsp olive oil

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C. Place pine nuts on a baking tray and bake for 5 minutes or until toasted. Remove from oven and set aside for 10 minutes to cool.

Step 2

Place the pine nuts, basil, garlic and parmesan in the bowl of a food processor and process until finely chopped. Gradually add the olive oil while the motor is running until the mixture is well combined.

Voila - you have pesto!
