WOVEN JEWELLERY MAKING

Join Ngamumu founder and director Lia Pa’apa’a for an afternoon of yarning, laughing and weaving at this outdoor workshop where you will learn the coiling weave technique and create your very own one-of-a-kind woven earrings or pendant.

Lia Pa’apa’a is a weaver, mother and community based artist, who has been weaving for over twenty years, incorporating weaving techniques taught to her by her family from her rich ancestry of Pacific Islander and Luiseño Native American.  Lia has delivered workshops across Australia and installed works in shops, festivals and galleries.

Lia will be sharing her weaving techniques that she utilises to create unique pieces of jewellery, baby rattles, baskets and more.

This workshop will take place simultaneously and side-by-side with Kuku Yalanji Basket Weaving with Merindi Schrieber so that attendees can gather, share and learn as one.
