OPENING CEREMONY

opening-ceremony.png

As the sun sets across the waters of Cotton Tree, we gather to pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of the waterways, coastal plains and hinterlands of the Sunshine Coast, the Kabi Kabi and Jinibara peoples, and open Horizon Festival 2021.

Welcoming artists and audiences to the region, this ceremony will feature the Gubbi Gubbi Dance Troupe, the Jinibara Dance Troupe and the First Voices Choir and offer a moment to honour Country, Ancestors and the Original Storytellers and artists of this land. Bring the family and gather around the sand circle to experience a special evening as we open Horizon Festival 2021 through song, dance, storytelling and a smoking ceremony.

Following the Opening Ceremony, be the first to experience the Opening Night performance of Club Briefs by cult cabaret hooligans Briefs Factory International, and enjoy local brews, tasty food and live music in the Wonderland Spiegeltent Garden.
