School holiday program. Get ready for a winter walk and workshop with marine botanist Lana Baskerville.

Discover the Magic of Mangroves with Natureweavers

This winter, families across Queensland are invited to step into the enchanting world of mangroves with Natureweavers and marine botanist Lana Baskerville. Set in the heart of the Maroochy Wetlands, this engaging morning adventure offers young nature enthusiasts (ages 5–15) a chance to explore one of Queensland’s most fascinating ecosystems.

Led by Lana Baskerville, participants will learn to identify various mangrove species and uncover the remarkable ways these trees thrive in tidal waters. From spotting salty leaves to observing clever crabs in action, the walk promises hands-on discovery and plenty of awe-inspiring moments.

Following the walk, children will channel their observations into a calming botanical illustration activity—an opportunity to reflect on the beauty and science of mangroves through art.
