Free family-friendly Shorebird Festivals
Celebrate the return of our migratory shorebirds with two free festivals.
We’re rolling out the red carpet to hundreds of migratory shorebirds as they make their way back to our coastline after completing one of nature’s more remarkable journeys.
Sunshine Coast Council is celebrating the arrival of these impressive birds with two free fun-filled events.
- Fraser Park, Golden Beach – Saturday, September 26, 8-11am.
- Cotton Tree Park, Maroochydore (pool end) – Sunday, September 27, 8-11am.
Festival program
The program for this year’s festival is packed with live music from Hayden Hack and Adam James, face painting, arts and clay craft, shorebird exhibits and hands-on games.
There will be a special Welcome to Country with didgeridoo and storytelling from Kerry Neill, wildlife information, research freebies, education stalls, charity sausage sizzle and more.
How you can help our special shorebirds
If you can’t make the event, remember these tips to help share our shores with the shorebirds by:
- watching from a distance with binoculars
- choosing activity spots away from bird habitats
- keeping dogs under control
- taking your rubbish home.
Follow the event on council’s Facebook page for updates.
