The EmPower Renters program is designed to support renters make informed choices about their energy use. 

About the program

The EmPower Renters program is a Queensland Government initiative, delivered in partnership with community organisations, this free program helps renters understand their energy bills, improve energy efficiency at home, and access rebates and support services. 

Whether you're in a unit, house, or share accommodation, EmPower Renters can help you take control of your energy future.

What you'll learn

Through engaging lunchtime sessions and online resources, participants will learn:

  • how to read and understand energy bills
  • tips for reducing energy use without compromising comfort
  • how to identify energy-efficient appliances
  • what to ask landlords or property managers about energy upgrades
  • where to find rebates, concessions, and support services

These sessions are practical, jargon-free, and tailored to the unique challenges renters face.

Benefit and savings

Renters often feel they have little control over their energy use, but small changes can lead to big savings. 

By applying the tips and tools from EmPower Renters, participants can:

  • save on electricity bills
  • improve comfort at home
  • reduce environmental impact
