The whales are heading north

whale migration

The whale migration is now underway along our coastline! Find out who to call if things go wrong.

Over the coming months, we will likely see whales travelling close to shore.

In an emergency, knowing who to call can make all the difference. Confusion over the correct contact number can delay the critical response needed to help these animals.

If a whale is entangled in shark control gear (shark nets or drum lines), call the shark control program hotline:
1800 806 891

If a whale is stranded or beached, use the QWildlife App or call the Department of Environment and Science:
1300 130 372

Please save these numbers and share this post with family and friends. A quick call to the right agency can help ensure the fastest possible response for whales in distress.
