Whether you're a local or a visitor, the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Garden is a must do.
Located in Tanawha just off the Bruce Highway, the magnificent 82-hectare garden is a haven for local plants and animals.
The gardens are free to enter and boast plenty of parking, sealed paths, manicured lawns and shady nooks, making them great for mixed age groups.

Experiences for children
For the young and young at heart, nature play elements are nestled in unexpected places providing hidden gems that encourage imaginative nature.
Large open areas are great for throwing out the picnic rug and relaxing while the children run off steam.
Art experiences
Right now, you can explore 22 stunning artworks created by talented young nature-lovers in the Wild HeART exhibition trail.
As you wander the garden paths, you’ll encounter larger-than-life depictions of graceful whale sharks, shy bandicoots, vibrant butterflies, and birds galore. Each piece reflects the curiosity and care these young artists have for our native species and the special places they call home.
Throw in stunning sculptures, well-kept amenities, a cafe and the Arts and Ecology centre and you'll be spoilt for choice.
Nature lovers
Take a walk along one of the many trails. The gardens are a haven of beauty and peace that highlights the flora of the Sunshine Coast region. The bushland garden features tall open forest interlaced with wet rainforest gullies.
The plant collection contains more than 350 naturally occurring plants of the Sunshine Coast region. This collection plays an important role in conserving rare and endangered plant species. Some of these species are found growing naturally on site, while others have been planted.
