Schools War on Waste Film Competition


Sunshine Coast Council is calling all young aspiring Sunshine Coast, film-makers and environmentalists to submit a short 2 minute film featuring their School’s War on Waste.

Shortlisted entries will be showcased on Council’s Facebook page and the winners will be shown at the National Recycling Week Community Open Day.

One primary school and one secondary school will the lucky winners of a Replas Buddy Bench made of recycled soft plastics.

The brief:

Create a short documentary film no longer than 2 minutes on how your school is waging a War on Waste.

Entrants whose film meets all the guidelines, captures their School’s War on Waste and demonstrates the most imaginative, innovative and engaging strategies and initiatives to avoid and minimise waste will be deemed the winners in the following two categories.


  • Primary School (Prep-Year 6)
  • Secondary School (Year 7 – Year 12)
